Call for Art: Hex the Patriarchy!

We invite you to submit your writing and art for our upcoming issue. We are looking for intersectional feminist poetry, prose, essays, photography and visual art that boldly and honestly show the struggles and solidarities shaping the world around us. It is time to hex the patriarchy.
Solidarity is the magic word.
Solidarity is a spell more powerful than any oppression. Show us your tender moments of solidarity, the sparks of your struggles, the soft magic of an embrace when hope seems to be fading. Tell us about the magic that emerges when you organise for a world without violence and poverty. Tell us about the fire that ignites when your voices rise together and echo through the streets against the patriarchy. Share your secret spells, your full moon wisdom, the stories of old oaks in the Hambach Forest, long-forgotten knowledge, or the witch tales your grandmothers passed on to you.
It starts with words - It ends in action!
With this issue, we once again dedicate ourselves to international solidarity. We want to explore what kind of future becomes visible when we truly look into one another’s eyes. We turn towards the revolutionary fire within each of us and the deep connections we share with one another and with the earth.
We will tell the stories of protests that have been buried in silence. We will resist the apathy we are confronted with every day. Let us rewrite the sexist myths that otherwise leave us in despair. Let us come together as a coven, full of hope for a world beyond capitalism.
For Women, Life & Freedom!
This issue aims once again to make space for every form of resistance and for the diversity of stories and experiences of FLINTA* (women, lesbians, intersex, non-binary, trans and agender people). We are looking for fearless and tender words of determination. We are looking for art that challenges capitalist and patriarchal violence and slowly reclaims our bodies, our streets and our stories. We are looking for art that stands in solidarity with Palestine, with Rojava, with the women’s revolution in Iran, and with all interconnected struggles for dignity, freedom and collective care, wherever they are unfolding.
We want our interconnected struggles to be visible, and we want your stories of resistance beyond the headlines to find a place. Show how shared experiences strengthen us to confront sexism, oppression, destruction and violence.
Bring your fire, bring your flames.

Practical Magic: Submission Guidelines
We particularly welcome written work in other languages, accompanied by an approximate translation into English or German. We value linguistic diversity and encourage submissions that reflect different language communities and practices.
Submissions:

Poetry & Prose (etc.): up to 2 entries, each no more than 1,500 words

Visual Art: up to 2 works of photography or visual art

In previous issues, we tried to hold space for a very wide range of submissions. However, as a very small team balancing multiple jobs and responsibilities, this volume is no longer sustainable for us. Please only submit work that follows the guidelines. Unfortunately, we will not be able to consider submissions that do not meet these criteria this year.

Call for Art: Hex The Patriarchy!
Wir laden euch ein, eure Texte und Kunst für unsere kommende Ausgabe einzureichen. Wir suchen intersektional-feministische Poesie/Poetry, Prosa, Essays, Fotografie und visuelle Kunst, die mutig und ehrlich zeigen, welche Kämpfe und welche Solidarität die Welt um uns herum prägen. Es ist Zeit, das Patriarchat zu verhexen!
Solidarität ist das Zauberwort.
Solidarität ist ein Zauber, stärker als jede Unterdrückung. Zeigt uns eure zarten Momente der Solidarität, die Funken eurer Kämpfe, die sanfte Magie einer Umarmung, wenn jede Hoffnung zu schwinden scheint. Erzählt uns von der Magie, die entsteht, wenn ihr euch organisiert, für eine Welt ohne Gewalt und Armut. Erzählt uns vom Feuer, das entfacht, wenn eure Stimmen gemeinsam und laut gegen das Patriarchat durch die Straßen hallen. Teilt eure geheimsten Zauber, eure Vollmondweisheiten, die Geschichten alter Eichen im Hambacher Forst, längst vergessenes Wissen oder die Hexenmärchen, die eurer Großmütter euch mit auf den Weg gegeben haben…
Die Geschichte des Widerstands liegt in unseren Händen!
Mit dieser Ausgabe wollen wir uns erneut der internationalen Solidarität widmen. Wir wollen zeigen, welche Zukunft wir erahnen, wenn wir uns in die Augen sehen. Wir widmen uns dem revolutionären Feuer in uns allen und dem Spüren unserer tiefen Verbindungen zueinander und zur Erde.
Wir werden Geschichten von Protesten erzählen, die im Schweigen begraben wurden. Wir werden uns der Apathie widersetzen, mit der wir täglich konfrontiert werden. Lasst uns gemeinsam die sexistischen Mythen neu schreiben, die uns sonst verzweifeln lassen. Lasst uns zusammenkommen; ein Hexenzirkel, voller Hoffnung auf eine Welt jenseits des Kapitalismus.
Für Frauen, Leben & Freiheit!
Diese Ausgabe will erneut Raum schaffen für jede Form des Widerstands und für die Vielfalt der Geschichten und Erfahrungen von FLINTA* (Frauen, Lesben, Inter-, nicht-binäre, trans und agender Personen). Wir suchen furchtlose, aber auch zärtliche Worte der Entschlossenheit. Wir suchen Kunst, die kapitalistische und patriarchale Gewalt herausfordert und unsere Körper, unsere Strassen und Geschichten Stück für Stück zurückholt. Wir suchen Kunst, die Solidarität zeigt: mit Palästina, Rojava, der Frauenrevolution im Iran und allen miteinander verbundenen Kämpfen um Würde, Freiheit und gemeinschaftliche Fürsorge, wo immer sie gerade stattfinden.
Wir wollen, dass unsere miteinander verflochtenen Kämpfe sichtbar werden und dass eure Geschichten von Widerstand jenseits der Schlagzeilen einen Platz finden. Zeigt, wie gemeinsame Erfahrungen uns stärken, um Sexismus, Unterdrückung, Zerstörung und Gewalt zu begegnen.
Bringt Euer Feuer, Eure Flammen: Es ist Zeit, das Patriarchat zu verhexen.
Praktische Magie: Einreichungsrichtlinien
Wir begrüßen besonders schriftliche Arbeiten in anderen Sprachen, bitte mit einer ungefähren Übersetzung ins Englische oder Deutsche. Wir schätzen sprachliche Vielfalt und ermutigen dazu, Arbeiten einzureichen, die unterschiedliche Sprachgemeinschaften und Praktiken widerspiegeln.

In der Vergangenheit haben wir versucht, einen möglichst breiten Raum für alle Einreichungen zu schaffen. Als sehr kleines Team , das mehrere Jobs und Verantwortlichkeiten gleichzeitig jongliert, ist dieses Volumen inzwischen jedoch nicht mehr machbar. Bitte sendet uns nur Einreichungen, die sich an die Richtlinien halten. Leider können wir Einreichungen, die diese Kriterien dieses Jahr nicht erfüllen, nicht berücksichtigen.

Our Mission
Stimmen der Rebellion/ Dengê Berxwedane / Voices of Rebellion is a feminist art and literature project dedicated to empowering voices through creative expression. Our platform offers workshops, an annual exhibition, and an online magazine, providing a space for artists and writers to showcase their work. We welcome submissions from all backgrounds, aiming to amplify diverse voices and perspectives in the realm of art and literature.

Our Story
Who We Are
We are friends, comrades, activists. We are also working class writers and artists united by our passion for feminism, creativity, and fighting capitalism. We are a collective project that is ever evolving. We are grassroots organisers. Our organisational team currently is run by Ferze, Nabila, Laura and Kate - who you can read more about here.
Our Story
It all began during one of our weekly coffee chats, where we often discussed the lack of visibility for art and literature by women and our genderqueer siblings. Frustrated, we decided to take matters into our own hands, organizing free workshops to create accessible spaces for emerging artists. The positive feedback from these workshops led us to launch our project, "Stimmen der Rebellion / Denge Berxwedane / Voices of Rebellion."
We offer free poetry and photography workshops, organise poetry nights - aaand have an extravaganza of feminist art at our annual exhibition and publish it all in our magazine. (Read it here)
For the past four years, this project has continued to grow, and we are proud to have published the work of over 150 artists, poets, and writers. We try to break free from colonial and oppressive systems that still shape our lives. Art is our powerful path to freedom, and we want to share this journey with you! So don't hesitate to submit - If your work adheres to our theme, we will accept it! We don't believe in elitist selective processes - we just want to share the feminist rebellion around us!
Our goal is to foster engagement for social justice and structural change. Voices of Rebellion provides women and genderqueer individuals with the opportunity to share their realities, struggles, and acts of resistance with the world. We aim to cultivate cultural awareness around feminist thought, experiences, and action—establishing a rebellious space in the public sphere.
